This short story took a little less than one hour to read and is my first introduction to this author. When I first started, the main character Elly sounded more like an unhappy 13 year old rather than the 18 year old she is described to be. But then there was foul language and crass talk about male body parts, giving the story, at least, a need for a more mature audience.Senior year Elly is being moved to NYC to live with her mother. She is leaving her old school in the midst of the scandal that she is a slut and slept with the entire basketball team. This is a rumor that was started by her ex-boyfriend and that was apparently believed by the whole school despite her growing up with all of them. The only two who believe her innocent are her two best girlfriends whom she is leaving behind. Extremely unbelievable is that Elly's mother would not discuss this move more thoroughly with her adult daughter and mention that her dad will be there too. Her dad left them 8 years ago, and she has not seen or heard from him since, so it seems lame that when Elly sees him, she does not ply her father with questions about missing out on her last 8 years.
The bad boy next door saves her life and she is hopelessly attracted to him. But he is dangerous, and she doesn't like violence (except when he is saving her butt) so he is not her type. The ending is beyond unrealistic that it is almost funny.
Honestly, the only reason I kept going with this story was to see the bad boy Kevin in action. I am baffled by his attraction to Elly and frustrated with the stilted and unnatural dialogue. I can't even recommend this as a time-killer.
Those of you who have grammar hang-ups will have issues with this text along with editing errors (I do not take off stars for bad editing).

My Dark Hero eBook SL DeBois Reviews
This was just a great book! It had such a nice storyline. It was an easy read & well thought out. Can't wait to read more from her.
This book is captivating. It is a perfect little read for waiting around or a day at the beach. I love the characters and other than a few grammatical errors, it is well written. It may need a little proof reading.
Awwwwww! I liked it, it was so sweet. It remind me to Perfect Chemistry. With Kevin being a a bad boy and the mechanic part and all. There were some funny part when Elly's parents interviewed Kevin. I would had liked to read more of Elly and Kevin together, more interaction between them. But still it was a good read.
This was a pretty good book. The only thing I didn't like was the length; it could've been an awesome book if it was more developed and not crammed into 7 chapters. But still good.
I was interested in reading the book because NC, NYC connection. I live in NC and my sister in Brooklyn, NY. The book was a little too unrealistic for me. The day after Elly moves to NYC her parents let her drive to school! Come on. Most of the kids involved have cars and never seem to have any problems finding a place to park. They even drive to a park and park in the "parking lot". Having been to NYC multiple times this just made me laugh. People are very lucky if they can just find a parking spot anywhere near their house. Quite a few gramatical errors like the wrong use of lie and lay, I think there was even one place where Elly "lied on the bed" but I'm not the best at grammar either, I hate to think what kind of mistakes I would make if I tried to write a book LOL. The author's grammar will improve with practice. I would reccommend that she either do more research about the areas she is writing about or stick to writing more about what she knows. It was a sweet story and with more practice, and age the author has potential.
