Corporate Blues edition by Christina Paul Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
Corporate Blues was an enjoyable book, though I found that this one may have had too much going on in a short amount of time. There were times I ended up a little lost as to what was going on. I found that it was quite funny at times and you can see that the author put the "family" feeling into the book, but I didn't feel the mystery or suspense was present.
An interesting look at how a romance can bloom under stressful conditions. I enjoyed these characters and will read other books by this author.
Two thirty-something women live in the same house in New Jersey, each with a teenage son, and neither of them with a husband. What are the odds of both of them finding their Prince Charming at just about the same time. Corporate Blues weaves together a story involving an unstable co-worker on one side, while on the other side there exists a corporate plot to defraud a Connecticut company whose CEO is a widower and very much attracted to one of these women.
The two separate dangers necessitate help from local police and the FBI. I read this book in one weekend, finding myself returning to it every chance I had until the ending. A very enjoyable read.
I was excited to read a romance about mature adults - not college students and not 20 year olds - real people with lives. Unfortunately, the characters in this novel were not developed at all. The writing was just not good. I forced myself to finish it, but I am not sure why. I would not recommend.
I really enjoyed Corporate Blues. I have read Christina Paul's historical fiction, and thought I might give this modern day romance a try. Ms. Paul did not disappoint. Her characters are well developed, and engaging, and you quickly begin to care about what happens to them. A nice mix of romance and suspense, I could not put it down. Looking forward to the next book from Christina Paul.
